(More customer reviews)I purchased this fountain a couple months ago for use in our backyard garden. I know outdoor fountains do not last more than a couple years, so I really did not want to spend a ton of money. After an extensive search I decided to buy the Pyramid tiered fountain, even though I thought the price was a bit high. But it had a very nice look and inexpensive fountains with built in lighting are hard to find. Unfortunatley, this was a total waste of money. First, after leveling the ground and placing a slate walking stone down, the fountain was not level because it was not manufactured level, so making the ground level was a waste. This is important because water is supposed to run down all 4 sides and no amount of shimming has allowed the water to run down more than 2 sides at a time. Then within a couple weeks, the top 3 tiers of lights stopped working. I suspect that there is an exposed wire inside the fountain but it is virtually impossible to get inside to see and work. The final straw was a couple days ago, one of the tiers cracked and developed a small hole. It may look sunstantial, but it is paper thin. This was not subjected to an impact or drop, so it is obviously a manufacturing issue. A total waste of $400, as it will be in the trash by the end of summer and once again i will be forced to search for a replacement. Absolute piece of garbage and ORE should be ashamed to charge that much for this trash. Save your money and look elsewhere.

Desktop 4-Tealight Fountain Review

(More customer reviews)This little fountain is a little too quiet, but very nice. You don't hear much water sounds because it is so small. However, I like the fact it is battery operated so I can actually place it in the middle of my table without any cords. Very romantic! Tawny Brothers were excellent in their communication with me with the post office misplaced my original order, then found it, but I was very pleased with this purchase.

(More customer reviews)I was extremely pleased when my birdbath came. I put it together and got it plugged in. I was very pleasing to the eye. Within five minutes the water appeared to disappear so I filled it again. The fountain started out normal but also went to a dribble in five minutes. I unplugged it and decided to try a different day. Same thing and also blew right over with a moderate wind. I tried again several times and the same thing happened. Why is this happening. I have cleaned it and made sure the holes were unobstructed but still only some of the holes work. I am very disappointed and frustrated. I would send it back but I would have to pay who knows how much for the packaging.

While it is very attractive, and the birds seem to like it... we are both disappointed that you only get 2-3 hours of "fountain time", even on a bright, sunny day. The ad says it needs direct sunlight, and it means DIRECT. The sun has to be directly overhead for the fountain to work. And this takes place for no more than a few hours a day. Also, it already has a crack in it, after only just a few days. (have no idea how it happened) And when you go to empty the dirty water out, it collects in the rim and it is almost impossible to empty it completely. For $200, I would have expected more. I really felt more sorry for my husband, because he was trying to buy the very best for me. Overall, I think this product needs improvement or the price needs to be lowered substantially. It is not worth the money he paid for it. I would not recommend it.
Dec.2009-update: This fountain quit working completely after only 1 season of use! I am very meticulous about how I care for things, so it was not due to any neglect on my part. This is just a very poor quality product... period. I do NOT recommend it for anyone.

I had hoped to put it in the bath for a Halloween party but it's effective ability ends around a gallon bucket. It was used in a small witches pot this year and I may try it in a medium one next year to see if the larger drops of water it throws off stay inside the vessel. This is a neat idea that could use a little more work back at the drawing board. On a positive note the LED lights were bright but could use some color options.

(More customer reviews)This product was well packaged and arrived intact. It also works, although being solar it does not have the flow of a fountain powered by electricity. In strong sunlight it is more than sufficiently active, but of course, if the sunlight dims or it becomes cloudy, the activity either diminishes or stops altogether.
I have bought two of these, and during the 5-10 days I've owned them (two separate orders) there have been no issues.
ADDENDUM: I'm now on my second summer season with these two (identical) fountains I purchased. I've run them with softened water as my house has a whole house softener and the hose bibs outside have their takeoffs after the municipal water goes through the softener. Therefore, I've not had any issues with hard water but I think that if you used hard water in them, they would function poorly after a little while. One of the fountain pumps died after about a month, and after some "negotiation" with customer service of the manufacturer, they agreed to send me a new one (although they did everything possible to try to convince me it was all my fault, beforehand). The water flows in this fountain only when the sun is directly overhead, which I believe is due to the fact that the solar panel is parallel to the ground. This means that even if it is a clear sky day, and the sun is going to set at 8pm, the fountain will stop running at 6pm or even before then. The basin is painted with some sort of black paint that tends to come off eventually and leaves the basin full of black paint flecks that clog the intake filter of the pump making it not run at all until you clean it, which may be necessary on a daily basis, if not only for the paint, then for the paint and other stuff floating in the air that finds its way into the fountain water.
With these reservations I continue to recommend these fountains, although I'd give them 2.5 stars rather than the 4 stars I gave originally (however Amazon won't let you change your star rating when you amend a review). Recommended, but with significant reservations.

(More customer reviews)I loved the looks and the sound of this fountain when it worked. My only initial complaint was that it does not come with an on/off switch. However, it had lots of issues during its short lifespan. The light bulbs kept burning out (and they are expensive to replace). The pump clogged a bit too often (and is a hassle to remove and clean). Finally, after a year, the fountain started leaking from the slate sides, a little at first, but then it basically split vertically beyond repair. For replacement, I went with a completely different concept because I don't want to deal with the same issues again.

I am covering one exterior duplex box with code required clear cover (the kind that covers the plugs) and the "rock" covers it with only a little space to spare. The box is about 2 inches above grade. If the box was an inch or so higher, the "rock" would not touch the ground. Other than being award of the size and height of box you are covering, it serves the purpose well and blends in well with any granite nearby.

It took three treatments, the fish were fine and I've been maintaining it once a week with no problem. The only thing you have to be careful with is keeping your pump on while using it. We never shut ours off, so it was not a problem. I read the previous review also, and I don't know why it worked for us and not for that owner, but I recommend this with no hesitation.

I put water in it daily, but today the motor is no longer working. Not sure what the "limited warranty" covers but the sellers won't do anything after 5 days. Great fountain, perfect for the garden space I put it in, nice sounds, but very disappointed that the pump is out already. Hoping the manufacturer will come through... if I can track them down.

(More customer reviews)Considering that this is a product one needs when the temperature drops below freezing, it's hard to understand why it would have been designed to fill upside down, from a small stoppered hole in the bottom, requiring the user to flip it over before plugging it into an electrical cord. This requires dexterity, often lacking when fingers are frozen, and hesitation or a slip of the hands results in the unit losing most of its liquid contents while it's being turned, forcing the poor user to start all over again and refill the thing.
Also, when it's cold outside, the plug that the unit's prongs fit into sometimes gets wet and then freezes, rendering it very difficult to insert the prongs into the plug. Again, this is not something anyone wants to play around with at 4 degrees with a windchill making it feel in the minus range. Compounding these frustrations is the relatively small capacity of the fount - three gallons - making it necessary to go through all this torture once or twice a day. After getting soaked repeatedly and freezing my fingers, I have just ordered a heated base which I will use with my galvanized 5-gallon waterer which conveniently fills from the top and doesn't require acrobatics to set up.
