Pondmaster PMK1350 Pond Filter with 350-GPH Pump and Bonus Fountain Head Review

(More customer reviews)I bought one of these pumps and it workded perfectly...so much so that I recommended it to my friends and also bought 2 new pumps for my new pond. HOWEVER, there seems to be a manufacturing defect in the newer pumps because on both of my new pumps...the hose connecting the pump to the filter does not fit tightly...I connected one of the pumps in the morning and went to work and when I came home in the evening I noticed that the pump was very low...I decided to clean the filters...then I realised that the filter was no longer even connected to the pump...so I reconnected it and turned back on the pump but it still did not work any better...I then proceeded to take a better look and thats when I realised that because the hose had disconnected from the pump it was jus sucking water from the bottom of the pond and had sucked in one of my baby Kois and killed it.
I am not discouraging anyone from buying this pump but if you do make sure you put on a hose clamp or something to prevent it from killing your baby fishes.

Quiet One Aquarium Pump 1200 - 296 gph Review

(More customer reviews)I have owned two of these model pumps and both have died for no apparent reason. I use them to pump water during water changes and they are not on consistently, each time they died after about 3 months of intermittent use. When plugged in they make no noises or attempts to turn. Maybe they work well for people who use them in a different way, but for me personally I'm going to steer clear of Quiet Ones in the future.

Even when my spa pump went out I used the little giant to circulate the water until I got a new pump. Recently, I purchased a new little giant as I was having to use it due to the heavy rains and puddling of water in my back yard area. It worked great! I would recommend this pump.
I also liked the long cord.

Hydor Pico Evolution 1200 All- Purpose Pump for Aquariums and Terrariums Review

(More customer reviews)Replaced the stock pump in my biocube 29gal with this. It seems to be functioning fine though for a BC29 it may not be the best pump to use. It has a larger outlet which of course requires larger tubing which is more prone to developing a a kink when bent. I'll have to locate some better tubing. Also, the flow rate adjuster on the pump broke within 5 minutes of me handling it. On the plus side it does have a fairly high flow rate with low power consumption compared to most pumps out there. It does have a low head rating so I simply moved mine up in the BC return chamber.

I've used it in fountains that I've built, as well as used it to replace pumps in store-bought fountains. It's the perfect size and offers an adjustable water flow so that you can set it for the desired effect. The pumps are very reliable, although they sometimes gets clogged in my outdoor fountains. But it's quite easy to snap off the plastic screen and clean it out. A good choice if you build small fountains.

Hydor Seltz L30 All Purpose Pump 23W 320 gph Review

(More customer reviews)The pump is advertised as working in and out of water. However its working out of water is a bit of a lie as it can't prime itself and can't pump any air. This means it only works out of water if it is located below the water levels that it is both pumping from and to, and even then you have to manually prime it. In most cased if you ever lose power you will have to re-prime it. So yes it technically works out of water, but not in the way an average person would expect a pump to work.
As for the pump itself, if mounted correctly it is very quiet and seems to work well. Since it is an induction motor pump it only has one moving part so I expect it to last for quite a while.
I find it hard to just give it a 1 star because they exaggerate that it is an external pump. Certainly for an external pump I would give it a 1, but for a submersion pump I would give it a 4. I suppose I should be lenient and give it a 3.

This spring, the muck did not get sufficiently cleaned out before the pump was turned on and it became clogged and burned out. I propped the new one up off the bottom and check it every once in awhile to make sure it is clear of debris. Works great!
