(More customer reviews)The pump is advertised as working in and out of water. However its working out of water is a bit of a lie as it can't prime itself and can't pump any air. This means it only works out of water if it is located below the water levels that it is both pumping from and to, and even then you have to manually prime it. In most cased if you ever lose power you will have to re-prime it. So yes it technically works out of water, but not in the way an average person would expect a pump to work.
As for the pump itself, if mounted correctly it is very quiet and seems to work well. Since it is an induction motor pump it only has one moving part so I expect it to last for quite a while.
I find it hard to just give it a 1 star because they exaggerate that it is an external pump. Certainly for an external pump I would give it a 1, but for a submersion pump I would give it a 4. I suppose I should be lenient and give it a 3.
