(More customer reviews)The water will stagnate & many people will "wait until it's empty", forcing your pet to drink probably contaminated water (or allowing evaporation to take over, decreasing fluid intake, leading to urinary tract infection and possibly kidney infection) if you're too detached to know that you wouldn't want to drink that water, either.
Try this instead:
Get a mini air pump, hose & airstone all for less than $10 (like for a small fish tank). Hook it up, drop the airstone in the water & you'll have a healthier bowl of water that your animals will be drawn to (and putting the water in a different area of the house than the food will encourage more water intake, too).
I use a multi-hose connector (less than $1. @ Walmart) for 3 reptiles' water dishes, which are shallow. The multi-hose connector allows you to connect as few as 1 or as many as the maximum hoses with adjustable air flow knobs going to each hose. This is a good investment if you find your water is spraying out of the bowl onto the floor.
Enjoy this nifty project & don't forget to empty the bowl when you see stuff you wouldn't want to drink floating in it.
