(More customer reviews)I purchased this pump along with a bio-filter (the pump is to go into the water, the bio-filter sits on dry land next to the pond; the pump feeds water up to the bio-filter, which filters the water and sends it back into the pond). Indeed, the two are often offered together as a packaged deal.
The problem: within hours the pump was clogged. It has a very small filter, and it simply got clogged up with junk. What is the point of a submersible pump if it simply clogs up so quickly? I realize that I had not thought this through before I purchased.
I give it two stars since it actually did 'work' and pump water for a while. Also, it is suppose to work on dry land (you would remove the filter, and make sure the pump is at least 6 inches below the water level, which is impossible for my situation).
If your purpose is a pump/filter to keep your outdoor goldfish pond clean, then go for the submersible filter that you attach to a submersible pump; the pump will pull the water through the attached filter and then up and out (fountain, etc).
