Aqua Square Coffee Table Aquarium Review

This table is something that you want to think very long and hard about before buying. I bought this table about a year ago and still enjoy it very much. Some of the positives are that no one i know has ever heard of a fish tank table before, therefore adds class to our home well as a conversation starter. Our was son 6 months old when we bought this table still loves to take naps on the floor by it. The sound of the water movement is pacifying well as he loves to watch the fish and the bubblers in motion. Now some of the negatives. The table being all glass and acrylic glass means everything is very visible. To use a filter and/ or a bubbler in this tank the wires and the filter itself are very noticeable. I strongly dislike that they are noticeable. But the underwater filter supplied with the tank is quiet small. I was thinking of buying a few small mirrors the size of the filter and placing them around the filter to some what make the filter less noticeable. This problem still did not discourage me from loving this table. Another issue is the wires to plug in the under the table light, the filter and the bubblers. If you have hardwood floors you can just buy a throw rug to hide the cords. I, on the other hand have carpeting in my living room. And also rent a half double. My landlord was nice enough to let me cut two little holes in the carpet. One under the tank and one under my couch. There is an outlet behind my couch. I strung the cords under the carpeting. This is very unnoticeable and worked great. The only problem this method posed was that in order to add a new device or get rid of another one i would have to unstring and restring them through the carpet. I do not like the filter that the tank came with because it is very hard to find replacement cartridges for it. I cant get them at a regular pet store, i have to special order them. Another issue is the lighting. The tank comes with a small light that shines one direction. Two are needed for equal lighting. I cannot find this light anywhere online to purchase a second. If i place the light under the middle of the tank, half of the tank is dark while half is perfectly lit. If i place it under the far edge (where i found was best to have it), the tank is all lit but dimmer on the far side. No heater can be used in this tank because it will cause condensation on the lid, the table top itself. that does not look pretty. I have hardy fish like goldfish, guppies, mollies, ect that are doing fine without the heater. Another issue is i am a big fan of bubblers and bubble stones. I love to have many bubblers in my tank. The bubbles pop at the top of the water creating droplets of water on the lid of the tank. After having this water on the inside lid of the tank my lid is now stained. I clean it and clean it and the water mark from where my bubblers are will not go away. To prevent the water droplets on the lid i would not fill the tank as high as it could go. But to me that was less room for my happy fish. In my opinion this tank would be a lovely idea for just water and plants. not a prosperous fish environment. Another issue i cant forget is how easily dirtied the lid gets. Yes i have a baby. And he loves to stick his sticky fingers all over the glass. So if you are an older couple, and the kids are grown up this is a great tank for you. Even will all the negative i have listed, i still enjoy my fish tank table. So think hard about whether or not you want it before spending the huge amount of money. This tank doesnt take a lot to maintain, the only thing is cleaning the glass everyday where my son messes.

Fluval Chi Aquarium Kit Review

Fluval Chi Aquarium Kit

The Chi is just gorgeous, it's a beautiful piece of art for a fish to live in. And when I say A fish, I mean a SINGLE fish.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with this tank other than the fact that the people typically buying it have not bothered to research that you can not jam 10 fish in a 5 gallon tank. Of course this tank's filtration system isn't powerful enough to clean water from 10 fish, it was never meant to have that many. Nor is any 5 gallon tank. The way to keep your tank clean and clear? Let it go through it's cycling process (which takes months, not weeks), don't overfeed, and please, if you want your fish to live, do not overstock your tank! The rule of thumb is for every gallon of water you have 1 inch of adult fish (in community tropical settings), and it doesn't apply to all fish. So, on average you get 5 fish for the 5 gallon tank. Make your fish even happier by allowing them to have space (so they don't stress out over territory) and only putting 1-3 in a 5 gallon. Fish usually end up dying in their own ammonia build up in an overstocked tank - a great way to go, eh?
This tank is beautiful, tranquil, and perfect for a betta or 3 fancy guppies, but not much else... Like all other small tanks (and despite it's own advertising, most advertising preys on the mass' ignorance). This isn't a problem with this tank, but par for all small tanks. I HIGHLY recommend this aquarium for those with a betta. Please people, remember to research animals before you bring them into your home that way you can enjoy aquariums like these for what they have to offer.

Rio 17HF HyperFlow Water Pump - 1090 GPH Review

Rio 17HF HyperFlow Water Pump - 1090 GPH

Couldn't wait to kook this baby up to my pond. The Rio 66o GPH was Okay but I wanted more water action so i bought this 1090 GPH pump. What a disappointment. The new pump put out no more water than the old one. I even hooked them up side by side and neither shot a water stream farther than the other.
My old Rio pump has never been a problem in an aquarium or a small pond. There is no more than 1 foot rise needed so that is not a problem.
Perhaps I just got a dog. Either way it is going back.
I do thank the supplier Graystone Industries Inc for their very quick shipping and hope the return is as easy..

Rio 20HF HyperFlow Water Pump - 1290 GPH Review

The RIO HF series of pumps is an excellent value. I just replaced my old RIO 20HF with a new one after several years of faithful service. They run quietly, have low energy consumption and can push a large volume of water.
Sure there are better pumps, but those are going to cost you quite a bit more money. It is really hard to beat the value of these pumps especially considering the amount of use I got out of them.
My only real negative is that these pumps do seem to give off quite a bit of heat into the water. I don't have anything to compare this against though.
Overall, I have been very pleased with all the RIO pumps that I have owned.

I had to return this pump because i was too loud for my reef tank application. I intended to use this pump as a sump return pump, because of the over head pressure, the pump was making too much noise. I switched to a Mag 9.5 and what a big difference. I still love Rio pumps but for other applications, like fitting a chiller, protein skimmer and the likes where head pressure is not an issue.

I purchased this product because the seller states that it is eco-friendly/enviro-safe. This is why I rated it with 5 stars. Time will tell if this product will work. I just added it to my fountain so I will wait to see the results.
