(More customer reviews)I made the mistake of not reading carefully enough. Since it was advertised by a company that had "solar" in its name I didn't realize they meant it had to be plugged in. The "resevoire" that the pump sits in is accessed by removing the top or sliding it over in order to pour in water. It is very awkward and easy to put a kink in the pump hose when replacing the top. You have to be careful because it goes dry much faster than you might expect and if it does run out of water the pump will burn out. I realize we live in a very dry area so the lack of humidity plays a part of how fast the water eveaporates.
We have decided to cut our loses and plug the drainage hole and use it as a birdbath without the fountain.
