Beckett 7123710 Calling Crane Pond Art Review

This sculpture was just what my water garden needed. I needed a spitter that was not going to look tacky in my gardens. This is a very well made piece. Fine details and subtle color help it to blend in to the surroundings. It shoots water in a nice arc up into the air and down into the middle of the pond. I love it.

Dripper-Fountain Copper Lotus Review

Dripper-Fountain Copper Lotus

When I first opened the package, I was a bit dismayed, because it seemed to have fewer petals on the lotus blossom than were shown in the picture. I quickly realized that the petals were there, they were just all bent in an upward position around the center. So, with a few minor adjustments, all was well.
This dripper seems to be made out of real copper, not just junk metal with copper paint on it. It is designed to go in a rather shallow bowl, as shown in the picture. So, if you have a deeper bowl, you will want to set this on top of an upside-down clay pot or similar object.
What I really really like is the very heavy soapstone base within which the pump fits. This base removes the problem that I had with similar items in the past - many copper spitters or drippers tip over too easily, as they are top-heavy by design. I bought this to replace an absolutely darling frog spitter that spent much of its time on its side, no matter how much I wedged and wired it to other objects. I can't imagine that I will have that problem with this item.
The pump has a slider adjustment on the side to control the amount of water flowing through. It can be adjusted from a steady stream to a trickle. The petals can be bent up or down to control the direction of the streams of water.
I did not give this item five stars because I have yet to see how durable the pump will be. I will post an update at a later date, with information regarding durability.
I am very pleased with this purchase so far.
Update: December 12, 2009
Still going strong without a hint of problems. The copper is turning green on surfaces exposed to air - actually I think it's quite pretty that way.

Sunterra 311202 Decorative Fountain Nozzle, Lotus Flower, Stone Grey Review

The water streams that shoot up from the lotus head are often uneven and vary too much in height and direction. If any small piece of debris gets inside the lotus head it will jam one of the holes and send the water flying off in any given direction or just block it completely.
Overall I would say its been a disappointment. The Sunterra site recommends a 450 gph pump for this head. I think that's a bit much as the water shoots about 4 feet up in the air. I bought the diverter valve to help lower the flow but then the streams all just fizzle out when you back down the pressure.
They need to refine the holes to make nicer more even streams that will work at varying pressures.
